• In your Case Study, you are to examine the work of contemporary Australian artists Jason Wing, Liam Benson, Richard Bell, Tony Albert and Julie Gough.

• The key question is: how do these artworks explore the idea of Australian Identity?

• You are to curate a hypothetical collaborative exhibition containing 6 works of art based around the theme of Australian identity. You should cover at lease three different artists in the exhibition. 

• You need to examine the artist and their four artworks in detail. Find quotes from critics, artists’ statements and newspaper and journal articles to support your exhibition catalogue.

Consider:

• Has their work won any awards or competitions?

• Is their work popular and or controversial? Why?

• What is the artist saying about historical and contemporary Australia?

• What is the artist saying about how Indigenous Australians are represented?

• What cultural, political and social issues are being addressed through their work?
